Our 2020 Utah Adventure - Celebrating our 5 Year Wedding Anniversary!

I’m always writing blogs about my amazing clients but this time I wanted to share one of my own personal adventures. With everything going on this year, it was really nice to still get to take a vacation and celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Even though, it wasn’t what we initially planned. Utah definitely did not disappoint. I hope you enjoy!

Melissa & Bob's Fall Wedding at The Rigmor House in Chapel Hill, NC

I had the great privilege of capturing Melissa & Bob’s Fall Wedding and I must say, what a pair these two make! They’ve been together for 13 years and met while helping in a set-up field hospital in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Years later, Bob waited for the perfect moment and takes Melissa out on a little boat ride on the lake near their house and popped the question! The timing and details were everything for them and it showed through beautifully on their wedding day!

It all started with finding the perfect location, The Rigmor House.

Not only was the bride absolutely beautiful but the decor and all of the special details were something to behold. (Wedding Stylist: Heather McLaughlin Events)

The Ceremony Begins..

50th Wedding Anniversary Party at the Starmount Forest Country Club

What an amazing celebration and what an incredible family! 50 years, 50 YEARS! Can I just say, wow! How inspiring it was to be around these two lovely people who have loved, cherished, and supported each other for 50 years. It really lights me up to hear about these epic love stories that have stood the test of time. I was not alone in this excitement either, their kids (all grown up themselves) decided to throw them a wonderful party with their closet friends and family at a place near and dear to their hearts.

Every detail of their anniversary party was well thought out, from the location and food, provided by Starmount Forest Country Club (a favorite spot for these Greensboro locals):

Starmount Forest Country Club definitely didn’t disappoint with the excellent food, service, and attention to detail. Their event manager, Sonja, was a master and prompt throughout the entire event.

One other special detail was for the couple to incorporate their wedding colors into their outfits and what better way than with a matching boutonniere and corsage.

However, the fun didn’t stop there.. I mean look at these awesome people!

The evening continued with even more laughter, dancing, eating and fun! I do have to take a moment though to put the spotlight on all of the children at the event whose energy was undoubtedly infectious!

Then it was time for the speeches, bringing on laughter and tears.

There were so many emotions..

Then it came time to cut the cake; however, Chuck had a little something stuck to his pants.. HAH! There were so many comedians in this crowd!

The night ended with a “Whose been married the longest?” dance.

You’d think 50 years would be hard to top but not for this couple, who won with 60+ years under their belt!

This night was simply a celebration of marriage, life, and love! I am unbelievably thankful that I got to capture such a wonderful evening! I wish all of the happy couples 50+ more years of happiness, love and adventure!

A little marriage advice from the happy couple is to make each other laugh and always support each others goals.

Special thanks to their daughter, Sara, who hired me for this special occasion. Your family is amazing!

Engagement / Save-the-date Photoshoot at The Old Guilford Mill

These two really are adorable! With their wedding just around the corner, Cheryl had to recently undergo a little surgery but she completely killed it at this photoshoot!! Her fiancé, Drew, was always there to lend her a hand but looking at these pictures you cannot tell, they’re both just radiant!

Their love for each other just shines through in every glance and smile.

Heather & Braxton's Winter Wedding at Whispering Oaks Event Venue in Julian, NC

What a spectacular Valentine’s inspired wedding at the Whispering Oaks Wedding / Event Venue in Julian, NC. Heather & Braxton were such champs overcoming this chilly day but fortunately this venue provided the perfect indoor haven from the cold.

Every detail of their wedding was a sight to see.

The girls had so much fun getting ready then later they snuck out to another room to avoid being seen. The groom then utilized this same room for a few quiet moments prior to the ceremony to read over his vows, deep in concentration and then smiling down at them written on his phone; meanwhile, he showed off his fancy socks with Heather’s picture on them.- expressing how much she would appreciate them.

Just a sneak peek of the Mr & Mrs.

Now here comes the beautiful bride, look at that smile!

The single tear drop on Heather’s cheek right before the big kiss just makes me melt.

Introducing the new Mr & Mrs.

Now for the first dance as husband and wife. Heather definitely made sure to save a dance for the other special men in her life too: her dad and her grandfather. Braxton followed suite saving a sweet dance for his mom.

The cake. Hah, well this got messy very quickly.

I can’t leave out the garter & bouquet toss!

With his teeth y’all!! Witness here stating he did not use his hands once!

Oh and the reception was a huge hit! The owner’s son of the Whispering Oaks as the DJ, provided excellent music and lighting that entertained everyone.

Just an incredible night with the perfect ending.

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session - Greensboro, NC

I absolutely LOVE newborn sessions! It is such a privilege to be invited into your new baby’s home and be able to witness some of their very first moments. I strive to make these In-Home Lifestyle Sessions an ease for the parents and there’s nothing better than getting to relax and enjoy the comfort of your own home.

However, I am frequently asked what is a Lifestyle Newborn Photoshoot and what makes it different? To put it simply, it’s your own unique story and I’d love to tell it!

Upon arrival, I like to request a tour of your home so I can find all of those morning light goldmines and locate any areas of significance (i.e. baby’s nursery, areas displaying current holiday decorations, main living area, etc.). Then once the spots have been picked, we just gradually transition from room to room. These sessions are incredibly relaxed and carefree.

One big question I receive most is,” What if my baby isn’t asleep?”. I do recommend a warm bath and regular feeding prior to the shoot to relax your baby. However, the incredible thing about babies is no matter if they’re asleep or awake they’re always ADORABLE! I personally love to see that they’re having to much fun to close their eyes.

Your newborn is the star of the show and their happiness and comfort level is my absolute number one priority.

Through out the photoshoot and in between the room transitions, feedings, outfit and diaper changes are to be expected and are completely natural. I’ll continue to capture these moments, as long as you’re comfortable. These particular intimate moments will remain private and will only be publicly displayed with your express permission.

As for props, I like to utilize the items you already have/ use: an outfit or two, pretty bows, shoes, furry companions, pacifiers, siblings, you name it!

From there it’s all about the connections, kisses and all of the little things.

I almost forgot about the epic pillow fights and The Land Before Time intermissions :)

To this loving family - It has been a honor to tell your beautiful story. I have had so much fun working with all of you and I can’t wait to do it again.! Your kids have completely stolen my heart. Congratulations on your sweet baby girl!

Now what’s your story? I can’t wait to find out!

What a day in the Park - Family Session in Greensboro, NC

What a gorgeous day in the park with this wonderful family. There were smiles ear to ear as we daydreamed about everyone's favorite flavor of ice cream!

These girls are the absolute sweetest! The youngest, Amelia, was full of energy and her older sister, Lila, has the best smile and is rocking those new braces!

Sisters really do make the best friends!

This power couple isn't just adorable but they also know how to dance!

There is just so much love and support in this family. With the Boston Marathon just a week away, Matt and the girls were already pumped to cheer Evan across the finish line!

Thank you for letting me be a part of such a fun afternoon! I hope you all have a wonderful summer with lots and lots of ice cream!

Class of 2018 - Senior Session - Statesville, NC

Senior year - the best year of high school! At least that's the case with this senior, Julia, proud to be with the class of 2018! This session not only captured a milestone but was a trip down memory lane for Julia.

Her grandfather was more than happy to host us on their family farm and not only that he even offered up one of his prized possessions as a epic prop - his car (American made and restored to its former glory by him truly).

So many stories, brought so many smiles...

The rope swing - built by her and her dad when she was a kid. Her sister even used it her in senior pictures and even though the seat had worn away - the rope was more than sufficient!

They called this car the gremlin.

She's dreaming about the future and the road ahead of her. I just want to wish you all the best this year, Julia! It was an absolute pleasure and I can't wait to see what your future holds!
